So, what are sedums and why do you want them.  Sedums are an interesting plant also known as Stonecrops.  They can be treated as annuals or perennials depending on which zone you are in.  It also depends on how hardy the particular type of sedum is.  They can also be used as a houseplant.  At Warmbier Farms we continue to grow sedums as they are very pretty in rock gardens.  They will grow in places where there may be too much sun, or heat, for other plants.  Depending on variety they can be planted in places where heat may be an issue.  Like narrow strip between curb and sidewalk, rock gardens, along asphalt, places where there would be more heat than in the garden.

Most sedum are drought tolerant after being established.  If used as houseplants they could even be misted in some cases as opposed to regular watering.  In addition there are many colors to sedums and heights can vary substantially.  Makes for an interesting look with variations in the garden.

Some sedums have edible leaves.  I would recommend more research on that as some juice from stems, etc, has been reported to have some toxicity to it.

Sedum also makes a very interesting table decoration.  In clay pots or other decorative containers they make wonderful decorations for showers, birthdays, and other events.  Even a small piece can be rooted, which also makes for an inexpensive decoration if you get them going early enough.

Overall they are a great plant!  Warmbier Farms sells both perennials and in the greenhouse we have a variety of them as well.
